Seniors' Shuttle: West - East FCSS

Bridging Connections FCSS

The Bridging Connections team consists of Community Social Workers who are dedicated professionals offering compassionate and confidential support to Spruce Grove and Parkland County residents.

Engaging in in-person, phone and community interactions, Community Social Workers actively listen to individuals, identify solutions, and facilitate connections to pertinent community resources.

Their role is to assist residents of all ages and situations in navigating life’s challenges, by promoting resilience and fostering meaningful community connections.

Join us for a special community event for Poverty Awareness Month 2024. Explore different paths of poverty through simulations with props and actors, enjoy some hot soup and have dinner conversation on the state of poverty in our community. 

Together we can better understand poverty in our community.

Opening words from Danisha Bhaloo Shivji. Danisha Bhaloo Shivji has a powerful personal story of lived experience with poverty and she is an extremely knowledgeable woman on the barriers and vulnerabilities women face. Danisha is past chair of the United Way, Women United Cabinet and the sole Canadian representative on the Women United Global Leadership Council.

Green Acreages Workshop Community

1. Workshop - 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at Muir Lake Hall
At the workshop you will learn about stewardship and how to:

  • Evaluate your acreage
  • Better manage and improve your property
  • Map your property assets and plan your activities
  • Access funding to help with a stewardship project and the projects that qualify
  • And more!

2. Field Demonstration - 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM at Sauer Lake
At the field demonstration you will see and learn about riparian restoration and get some hands-on experience planting native species.

Presented by Land Stewardship Centre and hosted by Parkland County. Please note this workshop is only available for residents and landowners in Parkland County and registration is required.
